Fire, or flames, refers to the special projectiles produced mainly by the primary weapons of Pyro. It can cause the damage-over-time effect inflicted on a player, which is called afterburn. Fire has its own damage type, and some other weapons which are not the primary weapons of Pyro can also cause fire damage and afterburn.

Using the primary fire of the Flame Thrower on a friendly Huntsman-wielding Sniper lights his arrow on fire, and an enemy hit by this arrow afterward is ignited; however, the Pyro who lit the arrow does not receive assist credit.

Secondary fire blasts compressed air which knocks back enemies, redirects enemy projectiles, and extinguishes flames on teammates, using 20 ammo per blast. All deflected projectiles will inflict Mini-Crit damage.

Nov 7, 2017 · The Pyro cannot take residual burn damage, but he is considered 'on fire' while the flames are hitting him. If timed perfectly, a flare from the Flare Gun will hit the Pyro for a critical hit. Just be wary that the other person may reflect your flare back at you for 41 damage.
