Radical SR9 chassis 6 was owned by ECO / Libra Racing and modified to compete in the LMP1 class in 2008 and 2009 using an AER / ECO V10 Diesel engine (VW Touareg based engine). A new nose design was used to improve aerodynamics and to accommodate the larger LMP1 tires.

In 2006, Radical would make its largest leap into international motorsport with the development of the SR9, a complete Le Mans Prototype in the LMP2 class.

The SR9 is Radical’s first LMP2 car which debuted at Paul Ricard test in March 2006. The initial concept of the SR9 was a ‘value for money’ LMP2 car that used Radical’s own Powertec RPD 3.0 litre V8, but the company later decided to made proper bespoke racecars that would be individually made for future customers.

It is rated at 20,000 rpm and produces 260 gr/cm of torque at 12 volts. I find this motor to be very reliable with a fairly smooth/even power band. I've changed mine out however in favor of an older Slot.it Boxer for the additional torque but staying within the 20K rpm range. GEARING: It comes with a 3:1 gear ratio.

By 2006 the company was producing LeMans LMP2 race class cars, the SR9. Radical also made the RXC V6, a street-legal LMP car with 380hp, and the RXC Spyder featuring an Ecoboost twin-turbo V6 with 654hp.

Livered in the very striking red and yellow Radical colours, the second SR9 came equipped with a four cylinder AER engine. Much like the first SR9, the works car had a stellar debut; leading their class early on in the race, just one week after first turning a wheel.

Developed by the same team that created Radical’s SR9 LMP2 racecar, the SR1 mirrors current prototype design, while the two-seater cockpit is ideal for professional driving tuition, or even entertaining business partners and friends.

Mar 17, 2011 · The Peter Elleray designed SR9 is a little long in the tooth but is still capable of a good lap time in the right hands, especially given that it is one of the cheapest pre 2011 spec LMP’s out there.
