Mar 8, 2010 · Why would a rotary miata be called "RX-3"? The original RX-3 was a sedan/wagon. Other than being RWD it's about as far from a miata as you can get. The original RX3 was a coupe wasn't it? Rx-3 2 door, 4 door, 4 door wagon. Yup, the first RX-3s were rotary engined coupes, or a wagon-no sedans.
