Yin Yu Tang House (蔭餘堂) is a late 18th-century Chinese house from Anhui province that had been removed from its original village and re-erected in Salem, Massachusetts.

During the Qing Dynasty (1644–1911), a prosperous merchant named Huang built a stately 16-bedroom house in China’s southeastern Huizhou region, calling his home Yin Yu Tang, meaning “Hall of Plentiful Shelter.” The house was home to the Huang family for more than 200 years until the last descendants moved from the village in 1982.

Yin Yu Tang (Hall of Plentiful Shelter) was built in the late eighteenth century for a Chinese merchant who commissioned the construction of a house in the province of his birth, Anhui, China.

Beginning in June 1998, architects from John G. Waite Architects, and Associates, began to analyze the timber and stone components for reassembly. The process took approximately six months, during which they made use of videos, photographs, and drawings of Yin Yu Tang created by Chinese filmmakers and engineers.

Yin Yu Tang, a mid-Qing period dwelling with its original building fabric almost completely extant with few structural modifications, is the first house to be brought, in its entirety, from China to the United States.
