X is an American punk rock band formed in Los Angeles. The original members are vocalist Exene Cervenka , vocalist-bassist John Doe , guitarist Billy Zoom and drummer D. J. Bonebrake . The band released seven studio albums from 1980 to 1993.

The X band is the designation for a band of frequencies in the microwave radio region of the electromagnetic spectrum. In some cases, such as in communication engineering, the frequency range of the X band is set at approximately 7.0–11.2 GHz.

FOUR decades after the inception of X, one thing is clear: X was not only one of the most influential bands to crash out of the punk movement of the late ‘70s, but their music continues to be sonically groundbreaking.

The week-long celebration, October 17 - 22, will include the Annual Music Masters concert on Friday, October 21 at Playhouse Square’s State Theater, with Mike Ness of Social Distortion, singer-songwriter Eilen Jewell, legendary L.A. punk band X, and others who were influenced by the “Man in Black.”
