Wii discs are only playable in Wii Mode. What to do If you are currently in Wii Mode and trying to play a Wii U disc, switch back to Wii U mode. Remove the disc and reboot the system: Eject the problematic disc if it is still in the system. Power the system off and ensure it is placed correctly. After 30 seconds has passed, power the Wii U back on.

Mar 10, 2025 · Also, try cleaning the disc and/or laser eye and try again, or try another disc if you can to verify it is not internal damage. Fwiw, it might have a tiny scratch that its getting stuck on when loading the disc, even though the wii u normally gets past it.

Dampen a clean, soft, cotton cloth with water. Use straight strokes and wipe the disc (non-labeled side) from the inside rim to the outside rim. Using a dry part of the cloth, repeat step 2 to dry the disc. After all of the water is gone, let the disc sit for at least two minutes to completely dry before inserting it into the Wii U console.
