US Airways operated a predominantly Airbus fleet, with some older Boeing aircraft and a small fleet of Embraer jets. Following its merger with American Airlines, it became part of the American Airlines fleet in 2013.

On March 30, 2000, US Airways received its first Airbus A330-300. On May 24, 2000, US Airways announced plans to be acquired for $4.3 billion by UAL Corp., the parent company of United Airlines, the world's largest commercial carrier at the time.

US Airways Express was the brand name for the regional affiliate of US Airways, under which a number of individually owned commuter air carriers and regional airlines operate short and medium haul routes.
