Apr 11, 2021 · Luigi's Mansion 1 was the first game I had ever completed, and the journey - while fun - was just as difficult and harrowing for little kid me as it mightve been for Luigi. The little breakdown of laughter Luigi has at the end of that game was almost cathartic to me.

The final boss where Mario goes ballistic and Luigi has to fight him on his own. It really felt like Mario was beyond saving at that point, so Luigi had no choice but to fight him. Especially sad since the music was a somber version of the Superstar Saga battle theme.
