Jul 28, 2020 · For the most part, the Windows memory manager will use as much RAM as possible when available, even when idle. The saying goes, unused memory is wasted memory. It may be worth a read if you want to understand the various metrics calculated into RAM usage if you are interested.

Later it might show 4/3.1, then later, 4/2.9, or 4.2/1.8, or 4.2/3.3, etc. In the worst case, the game is reserving the entirety of free memory up front in the misguided attempt to maximize usage.
