Aug 30, 2016 · I'm in the market for either an R8 or a Porsche 911 Turbo, and after doing some research on both cars, it seems the R8 has some rather big gotchas. One is the magnetic ride suspension, and the other is the AC compressor. I have heard some people paying upwards of $9k for replacement shocks and another $5-7k for an AC compressor. Ouch!

Feb 18, 2019 · I drove 7 R-Tronic R8's and 4 S-Tronic R8's before purchasing my 2014 R8 V10 with the S-Tronic Transmission. The R-Tronic taste good and will satisfy your desire but the S-Tronic just melts in your mouth and makes you want a second helping. More Please! IMO the S-Tronic is the icing on the cake and it's very sweet.

Nov 16, 2019 · The R8 didn't have a lot of option packages, but those that it did made a considerable difference to me. Finding fully loaded V8s may be more difficult. At the end of the day it's a highly personal decision. A pre-facelift manual V8 in near perfect condition is a collector - a pure representation of the R8 the way it was initially designed.

Mar 25, 2025 · Yes the OEM R8 buckets are actually “carbon shelled” buckets!! Now Recaro covered the carbon with plastic so the carbon weave wasn’t perfect to leave exposed and show off. But Ed fixed all that with his magic touch.
