Technically, I've read there is a slight difference in how the trigger works between non-safety vs. safety P30-series handguns BUT you will 99% not even feel a difference. So basically, you could say the only difference is the manual safety.

Mar 4, 2013 · I had a P30. Traded for a P30L. The .5 inch doesn't make a great deal of difference when carrying, due to the grip length being the same. I'm not one to question the ingenious engineers at HK, but I would think the P30L should have been the standard length. That would have allowed for a true "long slide" version in the future.

Mar 21, 2012 · The P30L should be known as the P30, and the P30 should be known as the P30K, for "kurz", LOL. I personally just feel the L is more balanced, and it just, well, looks "right". Frankly I think the P30's barrel is a bit short given its grip size.

Dec 3, 2021 · Well, I went to the range with the intent of directly comparing the P30L and the VP9. I didnt shoot the vp9 much in the past year or two, as I went towards hammer fired HK. So, I was switching between the P30L and the VP9 between mags. I did shoot the P30 last, but the massive difference in groups from the other two was pretty significant.

Jul 25, 2011 · I have a P30 in .40 and a P30L in 9mm, and the "L" has a much larger recoil buffer on the spring and a much heavier slide. The 9mm P30 my friend has so I have shot it as well. I think the "L" shoots softer than the regular P30 and I think it is a tad more accurate, but I think the regular P30 tracks a bit faster.

Aug 12, 2017 · USP has been in constant production since early 90s. P30 rolled out around 2006 so is much newer. While the USP is indeed "classic" the lines of the P30 and P30L are quite nice in my opinion. I own and shoot both (P30L, not P30). Both are excellent all around guns. The ergonomics of the guns is a key difference.
