When you next move to a new phase, all that black mana attempts to disappear, but omnath converts it to black mana again, instead. So functionally, yes, the black mana stays through steps and phases as long as omnath remains in play.

Apr 7, 2023 · Omnath of rage and of the roil are both landfall and have synergy with elementals. Omnath of creation took the landfall to the extreme, asking you to play multiple lands each turn for pretty good effects. Omnath of all... doesn't do anything at all with landfall, doesn't do anything at all with elementals, the mana battery only works in black.

But I just took my 4 color omnath modern deck and then kept the same control theme and turned it into a commander deck. I personally love the additional utility of having extra cards. And whole sure not having extra copies hurts, but it allowed me to flex a bit and have some fun and still throw in the occasional landfall from Felidar retreat.
