Feb 27, 2011 · With the MRAD, you need to keep either an existing bolt/barrel extension (pre-headspaced) or buy a new matched pair (makers kit). This isn't as much a cost problem as a logistics problem for the gunsmith, who's gonna upcharge a bit to faff around with all that, and there is some delay if Barrett is OOS of required parts.

I know there are a horde of loyal AI fan-boys around here, but I really like the MRAD form-factor, and have gotten 1-mile hits whenever I tried with barrels in 300-WM, 300-PRC, and 338-LM. Oh ... and my 6.5-CM barrel shoots very accurately out to over 1,200 yards. My MRAD 300-PRC barrel is my favorite.

Jun 23, 2022 · I actually sold my 6.5-CM barrel kit because I wasn't using it much (have a Tikka that's awesome in 6.5-CM), and got a 300-NM instead. I use my MRAD for pretty much all long range stuff (out to a mile), and am super happy with the results, as I can hit a 1-mile target pretty consistently with barrels on my MRAD in 300-PRC, 300-NM, and 338-LM.

Nov 10, 2021 · Selling my Barrett MRAD 33XC barrel that I used for the last 3 months of the ELR season. Only reason I’m selling, is because I’m getting a longer barrel spun up and will no longer need this one. This one has 307 rounds through it, 75% of which were loaded with H1000 (the others were N565 and H50) so the throat is still in good shape.

May 1, 2017 · If I remember correctly I think the military M40 sniper rifles were a 1-11, 1-12 or something like that. The faster twist rate like 1-8 is for heavier bullets in the 190 200+ range maybe in something sub-sonic. A 1-10 twist will be all you need. I had a Steyr SSG-04 308 with a 23.5 1-12 barrel and it shot 175 SMK's lights out.
