  1. What advantages does the M27 have over the M4? : r/WarCollege

Accessory wise, the M27 comes with better sights and sling. The M4 issue sling is the same piece of crap used since Vietnam. Theoretically, the M27, being a short stroke system has the ability to run a bit cleaner since the gases aren't going into the chamber similar to direct gas impingement with AR15 design.

  2. M27 vs M4 | Sniper's Hide Forum

Dec 15, 2019 · The M27 IAR is an HK 416, and the 416 is a select fire carbine too. What makes it an M27 are the configuration and accessories attached. Like the m27/416, and FN SCARs, the three carbines the Army is testing as part of the NGSW are all piston driven and not direct gas.

  3. M4 VS M27 : r/USMC - Reddit

May 2, 2022 · m4 vs m27 Question Hey just curious on everyones thoughts on this, Currently active duty 03 here and i was just curious what everyones thoughts were on the new m27 service rifle being outfitted to every infantry unit now, My company still has all m4's non suppressed and personally i would't take anything else simply do to the light weight and ...

  4. Is there any significant benefit to the USMC replacing the M4 with …

Feb 18, 2017 · It doesn't negate the fact that the USMC obviously feels the M27 is capable of serving in the DMR role better than an M4A1 can and has decided to procure more M27s to replace their M4s. NSW has more than a few HK416s floating around in their inventory so I'd be curious to read whatever memorandum is out there on their thoughts of M4 vs HK416/M27.

  5. What are the functional differences between the M27 and the M4?

Oct 8, 2023 · The M27 runs a lot cleaner and requires less time to maintain. Otherwise they are the same weapon. Same ammo. The only part that needs to be replaced on a M4/M16 to make it a M27 is the upper receiver. It takes just a few seconds to do. The M27 has been in service since 2010. I don't think it should be considered "new" anymore.

  6. M27 IAR rifle is shit compared to M4, even when the M4 has an

Honestly, this is just an accurate representation of an M27 IAR and an M4 (aside from the barrel swap being somewhat impractical due to different operating mechanisms in the first place). Unless you're using it for heavy suppressive fire, there is no real practical difference between an M4 and an M27 irl.

  7. Questions I have about the M27 and it’s use : r/WarCollege - Reddit

Oct 20, 2021 · The M27 is a lot more expensive then an M4 and those will meet the vast majority of Navy's and Air Force's small arms needs for many years to come. Special operations forces in all 4 branches have access to M4's with upgraded parts kits and many have access to weapons like the HK 416 so there is little point in adopting the M27 for those units.

  8. The M27 IAR and the flaws of the drum mag debate. : …

Feb 16, 2020 · So, there may be a slight accuracy edge of the M27 over the M4 and non-free-floated M4A1s due to this. TLDR: Modern, free-floated M4A1, IMR-Blue, and URGI systems are better than the M27 in every category you listed, as well as others such as weight and felt recoil. EDIT: correction about M4s and M4A1s being free floated.

  9. M4 vs M16 : r/USMC - Reddit

Dec 30, 2022 · Now I’m old and used m16, m4, and m27. I’ll say other than weight m27 is the best. Now when you add in the weight, plus the attachments yea m27 got old fast over an m4. But it’s accuracy is just insane. Cleaning was significantly easier and that just made life easier. That being said I deployed with an m16a4 and deployed a second time ...

  10. Report on the M27 : r/USMC - Reddit

I carried the m27 my whole time basically, once i got a billet i got an m4 but i had the m27 since i got to the fleet. Fantastic rifle. Free floating rail system allows for it to be about 1 minute of angle as apposed to the m4/m16’s 4-7 MOA. It was predictable …
