Jul 3, 2017 · Lantus is the brand name for the synthetic insulin glargine, which is an injectable form of insulin designed to help people with diabetes lower their blood glucose levels. Lantus is manufactured by Sanofi-Aventis. Since the patent on Lantus expired in 2015, other biosimilar versions of insulin glargine have been coming to market (such as Toujeo by Sanofi and …
Should You Watch Out for “Lantus Lows”? - Diabetes Daily
Feb 14, 2019 · For those wondering, Lantus is a widely prescribed long-acting basal insulin called insulin glargine, which is also found in Toujeo and Basaglar insulin formulations. Similarly, the Toujeo product monograph states that “Hypoglycemia can result from injection directly into a blood vessel and if not recognized or treated may be followed by ...
Issues with Lantus Solostar Pens! | Diabetes Daily Forums
Feb 27, 2009 · Lantus is too critical - and the pens are very prone to curious failures. Syringe and Vial is the safest, most accurate delivery possible - and there is no reason not to use it for Lantus delivery. Ideally, the pens came out (I thought) to make it more convenient for Bolus injections - it's handier to carry a pen around than the needle/vial combo.
Splitting Lantus Doses | Diabetes Daily Forums
Jan 16, 2010 · So with a basal insulin like lantus, it is quoted to last 24 hours and splitting your doses into separate sizes, like 60% morning/40% evening will increase your morning levels over your evening levels only if you have a non-flat response to the insulin. Instead, with lantus, it is more effective to stagger the doses, leaving one window "stacked ...
Is it ever ok to skip or lower a Lantus dose? - Diabetes Daily
Apr 17, 2016 · So perhaps you could try taking 1/2 of your Lantus now. The thing is, it takes Lanatus about 6 hours to reach maximum effectiveness so you will need to be patient and allow it time to work. The other thing you could do would be to skip the Lantus tonight and give yourself another Novolog shot. That should act faster and not last as long as Lantus.
Burning and Stinging when injecting insulins - Diabetes Daily
Nov 19, 2008 · But also what helped me was injecting the Lantus very slow. I would inject just a few units, wait a few seconds, do a few more units. I'd inject about half of the dose and then if I was still getting burning I would take the needle out and finish the injection in another area. That helped too. But the slower I injected the Lantus the less the burn.
Do I still need Lantus injection when my blood sugar level is low
Jun 3, 2020 · You would not normally just skip a Lantus injection for no good reason. Some folks split their Lantus injection into morning and night portions to help even out the 24 hr levels, and to help see a more stable bg level throughout the day. A basal insulin should be used with diet and exercise, and not used to offset a poor/high carb diet.
Lantus triggering a rise in blood sugar?? - Diabetes Daily
May 13, 2007 · Hi Nia, as Jodie as pointed out, firstly Lantus is not very well suited to being split dosed. I discussed this problem with my Diabetologist 3 months ago as I was getting a similar problem as you describe. He told me that the profile of lantus was better suited for single injection, or mostly in type 2 diabetics split 50/50.
Do you inject insulin in the Morning or last thing at Night?
Mar 28, 2017 · The problem I have with Lantus, and why I am sticking with the old, cheap Walmart 3rd world insulin, is the less than 24 hour action of Lantus, and by splitting the dose in half, in my mind, just doubles this effect. I made the hopefully attached drawing to illustrate this.
Switching from AM to PM - Lantus | Diabetes Daily Forums
Jun 21, 2012 · I've been using Lantus for about 9 years now. I've always injected in the AM. It's easier for me to remember and it's become habit. I've always had higher fasting #'s in the AM. During the day, I am fine. But mornings, I rarely see anything below 150. I've tried to switch from morning to night time before, but for whatever reason, I was unable ...
