What the gyroscope detects can be changed between “front”, “back”, “top”, “bottom”, “left side” or “right side”. When the gyroscope inside the Spike hub detects that the Spike hub has been “shaken”, all code below this block will run sequentially from top to bottom.

To download additional programming blocks, click on the icon with blocks and a plus sign at the bottom left of the SPIKE Prime App and add the Extensions. There are some additional Weather, Display, and Datalogging blocks not included in this guide.

Jan 9, 2021 · In my previous post, I introduced how to set a mission for LEGO Spike Prime and implement the task with LEGO Spike programming blocks. As I mentioned before, Lego Spike Prime supports MicroPython pretty well. Most of the programming blocks could find corresponding Python functions.

This resource has six tutorials to introduce students to the Hub, the motors, the light matrix, the color sensor, the gyro sensor, and word blocks--all within the 5E lesson design.

The coding language for LEGO® Education SPIKE™ Prime has the same look and feel as Scratch, the industry standard for block coding. Its familiar drag and drop feature makes it easy for all skill levels. While the two languages are similar, you can't use programs created in the SPIKE Prime App with Scratch 3.0, or vice versa.

The SPIKE App is a student-facing app that can be used with both SPIKE Essential and SPIKE Prime to follow and complete lessons. The app includes “getting-started” materials, lessons, building instructions, and a series of coding experiences that progress from icon- and word-block coding based on Scratch to text-based coding based on Python.
