HMS Rooke was a Thornycroft-type flotilla leader launched in 1920. She was renamed HMS Broke in 1921, and served until foundering under tow in 1942 after being damaged during Operation Terminal.

HMS Rooke was a shore establishment of the British Armed Forces in Gibraltar from 1946 to 1990. Located on Queensway near King's Bastion, the base replaced the Royal Navy Gibraltar Squadron 's HMS Cormorant and became a Joint Service Base.

Rooke's primary defense against aircraft is staying near allies. Her shorter range defenses will shoot down planes and make herself a costly target to attack, but she can’t deter strikes by herself.
