On the west end of the island, situated between the Atlantic Ocean and the Folly River, beachgoers will find Folly Beach County Park. Skimmer Flats, a major Eastern Brown Pelican rookery, is visible at the west end of the park.

Folly Beach County Park is located on the west end of Folly Island, between the Atlantic Ocean and the Folly River. The park offers beach access with over 4,000 feet of ocean frontage. Be advised the beach can get crowded, and parking can fill up during the peak summer months.

In addition to the established agency rules, the rules set forth below also govern Folly Beach County Park. Charleston County Parks are family-friendly facilities, and we expect all guests to behave accordingly.

Folly Beach County Park provides beach access at the west end of Folly Island. We visited in the winter to take our dog for a walk on the beach to the pier and back. In the summer, dogs are restricted on the beach, but are allowed all day in the winter if on a leash.
