Jun 30, 2021 · Belbe as commander can backfire if your goal is to take advantage of it and you need the commander for the deck to work. I’m speaking from experience playing against Belbe with a [[Dina]] deck. Belbe came out early, I started pinging with Dina and managed to completely take over, so the Belbe player had to let it die and never recast it.

Oct 29, 2020 · The more I think about the Belbe card, the more I actually like it flavor-wise. Belbe's original function was to be an impartial observer of the rivalry between the various successors to Volrath's throne, and then to choose one for the position.

Mar 31, 2021 · Yes. According to a ruling on Belbe, an opponent who lost the game is "still count[ed] ... to determine how much mana to add", for purposes of Belbe's triggered ability. In effect, what is relevant is what happened in the game since the beginning of the turn.
