Filmed on the eve of the 2nd anniversary of the 2010 Gdeim Izik uprisings, La Badil (No Other Choice) provides a moving insight into the rarely reported struggle for self-determination being fought by the indigenous Sahrawi people of Western Sahara, living under Moroccan rule.

Taking place in Tehran from 20th-24th September, the festival will be showing films that feature resistance against colonization and autocracy. La Badil, will be screened at FiSahara International Film Festival – held in the Sahara Desert. It’s taking place from 8th-13th October in the Sahrawi camps in Algeria, north Africa.

A political thriller about the practice of "badil" or "dynamite fishing", wherein voters are prevented from casting their votes for the opposition by paying them large sums of money to get their fingers inked before election day.

Badil (Dynamite Fishing) Acting as a window into how flawed our basic political right has become, a man from a rural community takes over his father's duties as guardian to committed voters being harassed by vote-buyers on the eve of the election.

Badil takes place in a tiny barangay in Samar on the eve of an election. The elderly Ponso (Dick Israel) is a veteran campaigner for incumbent Mayor del Mundo. He gets to work on that day, walking around town, handing out money to people who promise to vote for his candidate.
