Customer: I have an 85 BMW 318i and I have a cold start issue.Has to run for at least five minutes before you can drive. Runs extremely lean cold but after it warms up no issues whatsoever.We have done extensive testing on this car.

My brake lights don't work on my 85 bmw. The bulbs are good, I put a new brake light switch, brake fuse is good. I connected leads to new brake light switch without installing it on pedal and pressing on switch, lights up brake lights, but upon installing brake light switchon pedal, they don't work. What's the problem? Please respond to cvip.net

BMW Mechanic: Pete Make sure all electrical connections and wiring are installed correctly and that nothing was damaged when the swap occurred as this will cause this fault here.If any of the engine components or sensors are different they will most likely need swapped over to the engine to match your vehicle as well.

Thanks you Marty, it was the fuse... OK, here is a tough one. Same car 85 BMW 325e it has an s52 OB1 swap and since the install was done 15 or so years ago, the shop never wired the aux fan to come on with the a/c switch.

You can get fuses at any auto parts store, they do not have to be from BMW. The ABS light is on now because there is a fault in the system. Try unhooking the battery for an hour to see if it will reset. If not, you will need to have the ABS system scanned for faults to determine exactly why the warning light is on.

'85 BMW 318i at times will fire and run 1-2 seconds, will NOT take gas and die. At times will do this for many attempts. Have replc. Mass Air Flow Meter twice, coil, ignition switch [ really though this fixed it, drove a few times, once for about 10 miles. Then replc, battery and alternator and now is in cycle of not running. Just fires and dies.
