Aug 21, 2024 · Round nose softpoint 150gr for the .30-30 ( and its velocity range) have been common, available and well tested for over a century. In this velocity range- you shouldnt expect the instant knockdown and exposive internal damage of an ‘06, but it should expand well, do decent damage, and exit on anything but a lengthwise shot.

Jan 16, 2018 · 30-30 ammo is cheaper and familiar to most hunters. There is t much recoil and ammo/components are everywhere. 44 mag factory ammo is more expensive, recoil is about the same and actually much less with 180gr bullets. A guy can pair up his revolver with his lever.

Sep 10, 2010 · I've had several Marlin rifles over the years in 30-30. They usually average 1.5 to 2" at 100 yards and that is usually considered acceptable since it is getting close to it's maximum range. (talking regular 30-30 ammo here). Newer loads with those ballistic tip boattail bullets may be a tad better in both accuracy and range performance.

Aug 21, 2024 · I have two Marlin's in 30-30. As has been earlier stated, neither of them like the same ammo for accuracy. One loves the 150 Cor lok and the other wouldn't hit the side of the barn until using a 150 grain Hornady flat point and a reload of IMR-4350. Test out different loads. When you find one that works, stock up using the same manufacturing run.

Up until 2 years ago my brother, James, spent two to three months each year hunting and fishing the wilderness high country of Montana. Jan 2, 2021 · Good luck finding ammo for that fine looking rifle. I recently acquired a Marlin 336 lever gun with no ammo but I reload and have brass available, so that will be my route. Need to do a little research to see what the rifle twist is and what bullet is the most accurate from it.
