Dec 23, 2015 · When I do those I anneal them lightly first, then just form with the 256 Win mag die pretty much skipping over the 30Mauser die. Thing I found out about those is when using 357Mag brass the cases gets about .025-.030 under spec length. If you use 360DW brass a person would be much better off, everything is the same except it has a beefier web.

May 31, 2012 · Forming 256 Win Mag with 30 Luger dies My set of Lee 30 Luger dies came in today, and Dad was able to easily form 256 Win cases using the 30 Luger sizing die as an intermediate form die. He ran the 30 cal necked down 357 cases through the 256 Win sizer with only some lube denting.

Jan 13, 2015 · Mag. brass from .357 brass. Not sure where to post this but just wanted to thank those who have supplied me with info on forming.256 Win. I did purchase a set of Lee 30 Mauser dies. Only use the sizer die to form .256 and than run it into the .256 RCBS dies. Have had pretty good success. Lube cases inside mouth and out with Shaler Rislone.

Jul 5, 2023 · I went to a garage sale & I bought a box of handloaded .256 Win Mag. I won't shoot someone else's garage sale reloads, but the factory Win brass alone was worth the price I paid! Scribbled on the box was 75gr H & 4.9gr of TiteGroup. I looked around in my manuals & I couldn't find any data for TiteGroup in the .256. Curiosity has the best of me.

Sep 17, 2014 · The .256 seems to be the arch nemesis of the boolit caster. Could be one of the least receptive to cast lead of any small cartridge out there. Don't mean it can't be done, just be prepared to work for it.
Marlin Model 62 in 256 Win Mag - Cast Boolits
Mar 19, 2014 · I had a Marlin 62 in .256 Win Mag back in the 60's. I loaded for it but had to full length size all brass due to the rifles chamber being somewhat elliptical. That fact caused incipient head separations after about 3 reloadings from each case. I sold the rifle and never saw the "need" to go through that experience again.
