Gov. Ron DeSantis and Republican legislative leaders reached a deal over illegal immigration Monday night that would require the governor to share enforcement powers with members of the Florida Cabinet.

Legislative leaders said the new session was called "for the exclusive purpose of passing legislation to combat illegal immigration."

Florida lawmakers will meet for another special session to consider proposals that would make Florida “the strongest state in the country for combatting illegal immigration,” according to Governor Ron DeSantis.
