Cloud’s public recruiting pitch comes at a pivotal time. Remember that although Sabally is poised to enter free agency, she isn’t entirely free to leave Dallas just yet. Under the WNBA’s core designation, Dallas retains exclusive negotiating rights with her. The Wings recently officially extended a core qualifying offer to Sabally.

Days before the WNBA free agency period opened, Dallas Wings forward Satou Sabally made an announcement that the Phoenix Mercury enjoyed. Sabally announced she won’t return to the Wings before the 2025 season.

Satou Sabally is part of the WNBA stars competing in Unrivaled, amid the free agency period. After she confirmed her desire to change teams, a Mercury star is trying to "recruit" her.

The WNBA offseason enters its second stage today. After 10 days of extending qualifying offers to retain the rights of their own free agents, teams are now allowed to negotiate with everyone. Contracts cannot officially be finalized until Feb. 1, but deals will be agreed upon before then, if not signed on the dotted line.
