Bubba Wallace has made it clear he now wants to be known more for being a race car driver than a social justice warrior.

The No. 23 23XI Racing Toyota driver will be starting the Daytona 500 from the third position in row two. Wallace has five top-5 finishes at Daytona International Speedway, including being the Daytona 500 runner-up twice.

The win puts Wallace in the third starting spot for the Daytona 500, a race he’s never won but twice finished runner up.

The 31-year-old was understandably excited about the win and moments after taking the checkered flag climbed out of his car and stood on the door. With a contingent of fans booing, Wallace put his finger up to his mouth in a gesture of silencing the crowd.

Bubba Wallace won a Duel Thursday. Erik Jones did, too, until a review gave the victory to Austin Cindric. And Corey LaJoie is in the Daytona 500.
