Athletic Bilbao used a one-man advantage and two goals from Nico Williams to beat Roma 3-1 and advance to the quarterfinals of the Europa League on Thursday. Roma won the first leg of their round-of-16 tie 2-1 last week but had to play with 10 men from the 11th minute after Mats Hummels received a straight red card for downing Maroan Sannadi.

Stadio Olimpico is the venue as Roma and Como go head-to-head in a Serie A meeting in the capital for the first time since November 2002. Though only four places separate the teams before the kick-off, they aim for quite opposing goals this season.

Athletic Bilbao and Roma renew hostilities in the Europa League for the third time this season, but first at Estadio San Mames. A quarter-final berth is within touching distance for the Italian side
