Street Fighter is moving forward at Legendary again as Eric Andre Show director Kitao Sakurai has just been recruited to guide the new live-action adaptation.

Legendary’s live-action Street Fighter movie has found a new director and they’ve officially hired Kitao Sakurai ( Bad Trip, Twisted Metal ). He reportedly signed on to direct the film months ago, but it’s just been confirmed by Deadline .

The Hollywood Reporter reported Wednesday that Sakurai has stepped into the director’s chair for 2026’s Street Fighter movie, which is being developed and produced by Capcom and Legendary. Sony is distributing the film, which has a March 20, 2026 release date.
