Israel will call up several brigades, totaling thousands of reservists, an Israeli military official said Sunday, as the country considers plans to expand operations in the Gaza Strip. The official spoke on the condition of anonymity in keeping with protocol.

KHAN YUNIS, Gaza Strip — For nearly 60 days, no food, fuel, medicine or other item has entered the Gaza Strip, blocked by Israel. Aid groups are running out of food to distribute. Markets are nearly bare. Palestinian families are left struggling to feed their children.

Hamas officials have accused some of the looters of working in collaboration with Israel, which has sealed off aid from entering Gaza for the past two months. Israel has not commented on the allegation.
