Johansson is using her brand to advocate for AI protections for the general public. Kanye West’s swastika-emblazoned merchandise has been taken offline by digital storefront Shopify, but the scandal surrounding West’s bizarre and hateful political views has now taken another weird and decidedly modern-day turn.

The actress issued a statement against the “misuse of AI,” which was used to create a viral deepfake video of herself and other celebrities criticizing Kanye West for antisemitism.

Johansson, who has previously criticized the AI imitations of her voice, called on the government to regulate AI usage.
