Othello, starring Denzel Washington and Jake Gyllenhaal just made history! The play became the highest grossing play in Broadway history last week, with a total of $2.8 million. The total came as the play is only in its second week of previews.

Hollywood greats Denzel Washington and Jake Gyllenhaal are acting in Broadway's Othello, and the stage production has just set an all-time record.

The previous record-holder was Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, which grossed $2,718,488 for the week ending December 31, 2023.

Denzel Washington's portrayal of Othello shatters Broadway records with $921 tickets and $2.63 million weekly gross.

In addition to a lengthy film career, Washington has previously starred on Broadway in A Raisin in the Sun and Fences, opposite Viola Davis, Julius Cesar, Checkmates and most recently, the 2018 revival of Iceman Cometh, in a large cast that also included Austin Butler.
