It is possible. Try to make it during the day and return before it gets dark or stay over and return the next day after sunrise. The roads are not exactly sandy everywhere ,its just uneven/offroad. To be on the safer side always have a spare tire and tools necessary. Dont overload your car. Carry food and water and enjoy
